Victor London workshop

Design

Designs are stencilled in the  design department in London, United Kingdom; these stencils are used as guides for cutting pieces of leather in the punching shop. The leather pieces are cut by hand with a trimming knife, and are later used to form the shaft of the shoe.

We handle all downstream processes internally, we made a conscious choice to locate our production in Casablanca, Morocco. Traditional shoe manufacturing has deep roots in that country, and there are many experts in the field working there, supported by an excellent infrastructure.

Leather

Our insistence upon manufacturing our shoes in Morocco, along with our policy of sourcing the leather we use in Europe and traditional leather vegetable tannery in Morocco, means that we’re able to provide classic -Made by hand- products, created with respect for man and nature alike.

Tanning

Aside from durability, the vegetable tanning process also gives leather a distinct, somewhat sweet aroma — the kind you probably already associate with leather. And the absorption of tannins makes for colours that are notably rich and deep in character; think natural and earthy tones, like beige and brown.

Because vegetable tanning requires no synthetic coatings, the leather is allowed to ‘breathe’. As a result, it’s able to absorb moisture and oils, and go on to form a ‘patina’. In the world of leather, patina is an indicator of quality and aesthetic beauty, something that enhances the perceived value of a leather product.

Lastly, vegetable tanning is the most environmentally-friendly method of leather production. More on this later, but it’s worth reiterating that only natural and organic substances are used during the production process.
